Katherine My Journey: Where Spirituality Meets Human Resilience

Practical metaphysics became my spiritual anchor, though my path to get there wasn’t a straight line. While I’ve felt a pull towards the spiritual since I was in my early teens, my journey has been shaped by unique challenges. I was born with Cretinism (Congenital Hypothyroidism); I was born without one, diagnosed in 5th grade with a learning disability/disorder, and near my 66th birthday, I was diagnosed with Combined ADHD, learning disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, reaction to stress, and major depressive disorder, recurring. These weren’t setbacks; they became the very foundation of my search for a deeper connection & understanding.

The Search For A Spiritual Home

About a decade ago, I dove into self-development and metaphysics. My first school was more secular, & while I learned a lot, my heart and soul were searching for something more overtly spiritual. That search lead me to International Metaphysics Ministries, which I recognized immediately that this was the spiritual anchor I’d been seeking, and this is where my  real work began.

But this work isn’t always a walk in the park. Memory struggles made retaining complex teaching feel like climbing mountains. To truly absorb the lessons and make them my own, I realized I needed a new approach. So, I paused—not to quit, but to redesign how I learn. Why? Because:

  • I refuse to let fading memories steal wisdom [How I journal to remember]
  • Others deserve a roadmap for spiritual vs secular paths [My toolkit for ADHD learners]

This chronicle proves growth is possible even with learning disabilities and late-diagnosed ADHD. I just didn’t expect to take a 7-year break.

Why This Website Exists (And Who it’s For)

This website is my living, breathing notebook. It’s here for three main reasons.

  • To chronicle my journey. It’s a record of what I’m learning, how I’m evolving and how I’m applying these spiritual principles to my life. I’m the first case study here.
  • To help my own mind. Writing helps me process and remember the profound lessons from my metaphysical studies
  • To help YOU. If you’re on a similar path. I hope my experiences—the triumphs and the stumbles—can offer you insight, encouragement, and a sense of community

This is more than a blog; it’s a way of shifting into a ‘victory lifestyle”—a life where we evolve spiritually, physically, mentally & emotionally.

A Fellow Traveler, Not a Guru

I may be in my 60’s, but in many ways, I’m still a novice. I have far more questions than I have answers, and when I get answers, I just have more questions! But that keeps me curious and eager to learn This is a space for exploration, not for perfect, pre-packaged answers. This is about practical metaphysics. I don’t have all the answers, but I think we can learn to ask the right questions, together.

My goal is is to explore how to live a deeply spiritual life in a practical way, that is grounded in the real world. A big part of that is learning [Learning how to manage my ADHD within a spiritual framework]. It’s a journey of discovering how every single part of our lives, including our challenges is connected to the Divine.

When I’m not studying or writing you can find me:

  • Enjoying [kirtan music] or even chanting along with it.
  • Exploring music vistas whether it’s classical, new age or even contemporary.
  • Getting lost in a good book [Jonathan Livingston Seagull] or Heinlein’s [Stanger in a Strange Land]
  • Re-learning and strumming my guitar, badly, but joyfully. Hey, I’m getting back to it after a 40 year break.
